MacArthur Medical Center

October

The Project

This month, we’re taking a closer look at our Sunshade installation at MacArthur Medical Center, a comprehensive healthcare facility located at the Westpark Office in Euless, TX. Aiming to provide added comfort to patients, this project includes the installation of 84 sunshades featuring a 3″ shutter infill with five blades each. This setup helps manage sunlight, improves comfort inside the building, and adds a clean, modern look to the exterior.

The system uses a rectangular plate outrigger at 3″ height, paired with a 3″ shutter blade fascia for a smooth and consistent finish. Everything is coated in a Medium Bronze powder coat to ensure long-term durability and protection against weathering.

Overall, the sunshade system enhances both function and design, giving the facility a simple and efficient shading solution that blends seamlessly with the building.

Grateful to have partnered with Talley Riggins Construction Group and Hoefer Wysocki Architecture on this project. Their collaboration and support helped ensure a smooth process from planning to installation.

The Terraces at Solana

The Terraces at Solana | Custom Sunshade & Equipment Screen | Project of the Month

The Terraces at Solana

The Project

Scott + Reid General Contractors were looking for a custom design to act as both a sunshade and an equipment screen. Because the building was already standing, they wanted something lightweight that wouldn’t require additional work on the structure of the building. Since a fireplace fan was being hidden, it was necessary to create a design that would both look aesthetically pleasing and still allow the fan to do its job safely.

The project was brought to us by Scott + Reid General Contractors, due to our long standing relationship and the quality of work we provide. Scott + Reid is a unique General Contractor with a location in Addison, with a focus on collaboration and strong communication. Their approach minimizes construction disruptions and truly aims to realize the vision of the project.

We designed, fabricated, and installed a custom sunshade that would double as an equipment screen. To create this custom solution in order to give the equipment ample space to breathe, we created 8 units spanning 40’ with a 48” facia and a 2’6” projection. With a powder coat finish, our custom sunshade provided a beautiful solution.

Fox Electric Headquarters

Fox Electric Headquarters | Project of the Month

Fox Electric Headquarters

January

The Project

Fox Electric is a commercial electrical company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Arch-Fab has had a long-standing relationship with Bob Moore Construction and worked directly with RGA Architects on this project.

Through our strong relationships with both RGA Architects and Bob Moore Construction, our preconstruction specialists received an invitation to bid. Through their effective communication and our reputation in the industry, we were able to propose the best awning solution for the Fox Electric Headquarters.

Arch-Fab was in competition with another company for the bid, but the client requested a longer warranty on the finish. The initial bid included a powder coat finish so it was imperative to add additional finishing options to the standing seam awning proposal.

We explored options and communicated them with Bob Moore Construction. Ultimately, we were able to come up with a solution that provided the best product that matched both their budget and needs for the project. Arch-Fab’s in-house powder coating offers a 1-year warranty and Kynar is a durable, long-term finish with a 20-year warranty. Our bid offered both these options to create a comparison in price and the client chose the Kynar finish to meet their intent of the longer warranty.

The awnings truly look stunning at the Electric Fox Headquarters and were completed on time. Since working on Fox Electric Headquarters, Arch-Fab has continued to build a strong relationship with both Bob Moore Construction and RGA Architects and has partnered with both on several additional projects.

The Clariden School

The Clariden School | Project of the Month

The Clariden School

December

The Project

The Clariden School in Southlake, TX is a premiere private STEM School focusing on educating students from preschool to 12th grade. Arch-Fab has been a long-time partner with Steele & Freeman and worked directly with WRA Architects on this project to supply and manufacture new awnings for a refresh.

The Clariden School remodel came about after an Arch-Fab Lunch and Learn presentation. The WRA architect and Arch-Fab AEC Representative collaborated on the awnings together and then bid the work to Steele & Freeman.

As an existing building, the Clariden School had existing steel awnings that were showing signs of rust. They were removed to make room for new aluminum awnings with standing seam material. Utilizing the new aluminum awnings ensured that no rust would form on the structures. The frames were mechanically fastened rather than welded as they had been in the steel design. It was also important to incorporate the original colors of the previous awnings and to maintain a fresh look.

In order to make sure these awnings matched the previous ones, the framing of the awnings received a primer treatment of powder coat. Afterward, their painter applied a paint grip for an adhesive surface for the paint. The standing seam was a perfect match to the originals and — adding to durability against the elements — came as a prefinished baked enamel.

With lots of communication to convey how the final look would be achieved in the field, the standing seam awnings came together and refreshed the exterior of The Clariden School.

Arch-Fab has had the pleasure of completing several projects with Steele & Freeman with the intent to do more in the future. WRA Architects is a firm focused on projects in the educational field and Arch-Fab plans to create a stronger partnership with them in the new year.

The Project

Customer needed entrance canopies installed on the first and second floors that required a specific Kynar coating to match their existing sheet metal color. They also needed a trellis structure to be installed over a curtain wall system. They wanted the trellis structure with a slim design, straight lines and a wood like finish to help give exterior more of a modern feel.

We provided our Atlas model canopy without soffit panels. We were also able to design a modern Trellis structure with a custom wood grain powder coat finish.

The Project

The architect had a specific sunshade design in mind and needed some guidance to make it happen. They reached out to us because of our existing relationship and we have completed several of their projects in the past.

With their extensive knowledge of sunshade components, our design team was able to bring the architect’s vision to life. The way the custom rounded outriggers and matching fascia went together with the exposed fasteners really made this project turn out great! We also provided a custom Helios canopy at a few side entrance locations which included custom “star shaped” wall brackets.

The GC on this project was Marcon Construction, Inc. We are excited about completing our first project with them and are looking forward completing more.

Hollyhock Amenity Center

Hollyhock Amenity Center Sunshade Institutional

Hollyhock Amenity Center

The Project

The sunshade structures were drawn with steel framing and aluminum infills. This would require us to work in unison with the steel fabricator and our measurements would have to be spot on.

We went through several rounds of submittals with the architect, filling in the missing details and making sure we were fulfilling their design intent. We verified placement of all the steel tabs with the steel fabricator and custom fabricated our product incorporating those dimensions. The heavy project management work and submittal detailing ultimately led to the successful completion of the Hollyhock Amenity Center.
