Mustang Court

February

The Project

The development of Mustang Court reflects Brookfield Properties’ dedication to innovation and sustainability. To bring their vision to life, they sought a partner capable of providing products that align with their goals. Architectural Fabrication together with The Conlan Company and Macgregor Associates Architects, provided a range of sun control systems, designed to be both sustainable and highly customizable while maintaining visual appeal.

For this project, Arch-Fab designed and fabricated a total of 60 Custom L-Shaped Sunshades and 20 Louvered Aluminum Sunshades, which were installed across multiple buildings. The L-Shaped sunshades feature a 1′ projection with a 1″ square tube frame in a mill finish, complemented by a .50 sheet metal, wrap in an architectural metal standard color. Meanwhile, the Louvered Sunshades features a 7’2″ max projection, 6″ x 12″ tube outriggers and front fascia, and six rows of 3″ square tube infill, all finished in Standard Powder Coat Color Gloss White. Designed to enhance the buildings’ architectural appeal, they also provide effective solar control, reducing heat gain and glare.

Atlas Canopies were installed at the main entrances of all the buildings. Each canopy features a 7’2” projection, a 12′ bent aluminum fascia, a deck pan infill, and a flush seam soffit. Finished in Architectural Metal Standard Color Regal White, they also include a downspout drainage system to prevent rainwater from dripping off the edges.

One of the highlights of this project is the custom L-shaped sunshades, carefully measured and cut to fit the windows as well as the side and backdoor entrances, ensuring it matches with the building’s overall design. At the main entrances, the lower sunshades attached to the Atlas Canopies were seamlessly integrated, providing not only additional shade but also enhancing its creativity and beauty.

At Arch-Fab, we are committed to delivering top-tier architectural solutions tailored to our clients’ specific needs. Bringing this project to life wouldn’t be possible without exceptional commitment and the hard work of The Conlan Company and Macgregor Associates Architects as well as our own outstanding Arch-Fab team.

To our valued partners, The Conlan Company and Macgregor Associates Architects, we look forward to continued collaboration and future opportunities to work together.

Bedford Boys Ranch

December

The Project

Steele & Freeman, seasoned builders with a 44-year legacy, approached us for the Bedford Boys Ranch project, aiming to elevate the recreational space. Their need was clear: premium shade solutions to enhance the new community space.

Collaborating with OWT Architects for the Aquatics building and Halff Architects for the Concession building, we ensured a tailored approach to meet each architect’s unique vision. This project demanded flexibility, and our partnership with both architecture firms allowed us to effectively address their diverse needs.

For the project, we supplied our Atlas and Helios Canopy Systems, aligning with each architect’s vision and tailored to fit each building.

On the Aquatics building designed by OWT Architects, our Atlas units took center stage, featuring a sleek Kynar copper finish. The Atlas unit design allows for adaptability and customization to meet any project’s needs. In this case, we collaborated with another subcontractor, who provided the soffits.

For the Concession building designed by Halff Architects, our Helios units provided effective sun control. The Helios canopies – designed, fabricated, and installed by our expert team – aim for effective simplicity.

Working with OWT Architects on the Aquatics building and Halff Architects on the Concession building showcased our ability to adapt and deliver. Both architecture firms, known for their creative approaches, provided valuable insights throughout the project.

Our collective efforts with Steele & Freeman, OWT Architects, and Halff Architects contributed to transforming large, functional spaces into aesthetically pleasing, shaded areas. This project, with its dual architect collaborations, reinforced our commitment to working seamlessly with diverse teams to enhance our local communities.

The Project

FCL Builders, the general contractor for Exchange Circle Business Park, was seeking a provider to fabricate and install aluminum canopies, sunshades, and window sunscreens for this project.

With a focus on e-commerce, warehousing, cold storage, food production, and manufacturing facilities, FCL Builders has completed over 550 million square feet of industrial spaces throughout the US. They needed a provider with experience and expertise to deliver a high-quality solution within budget and on time.

6631 Stadium Logistics Center

Stadium Logistics Center | Anodized Atlas Canopy Integrated with Louvered Sunshades

6631 Stadium Logistics Center

June

The Project

Located just down the road from the former Texas Stadium on 183, this CT Realty Investor industrial project is brand new. This project features an integrated Division 10 scope package combining canopies with louvered sunshades, offering full protection from the elements at entries and sun protection at window openings in a visually-appealing design.

Having worked with Talley Riggins and Pross Design Group on several projects previously, it was a natural fit for Arch-Fab to participate in the design, manufacturing, and installation of the canopy and sunshade scope for this industrial project.

The scope included anodized sunshades and canopies. The canopies were integrated into the sunshade units to offer full sun and rain coverage over the doorways while offering the unique visual aesthetics of the sunshades. With concerns about increasing lead times and costs due to the supply-chain challenges, Arch-Fab closely adhered to its “end-to-end” internal processes to ensure a successful outcome for long-standing trade partner, Talley Riggins.

Arch-Fab was able to meet and exceed expectations by completing the project on time and on budget. Because the Arch-Fab team was tuned into the needs of this project, the final Atlas canopies and louvered sunshades aligned seamlessly to create a sharp visual aesthetic for the building entrances, completing another beautiful tilt wall site with leading architect, Pross Design Group.

After initial challenges, the general contract, architect, and Architectural Fabrication were able to coordinate the system to work within the needed timeline while it met the quality standards required by Arch-Fab, trade partner Talley Riggins, and Pross Design Group.

Speedway Industrial Park Phase 1

Speedway Industrial Park Phase 1 | Atlas Canopy

Speedway Industrial Park Phase 1

February

The Project

Each commercial tilt-wall construction project creates the challenge of turning a rectangular concrete structure into a unique, aesthetically appealing business facility. Powers Brown Architecture and Ridgemont Commercial Construction are industry leaders and their expertise is on display at Speedway Industrial Park.

Architectural Fabrication’s preconstruction team has developed strong ties with Ridgemont Commercial Construction (RCC) and its project management and onsite teams have successfully completed projects for many years. Powers Brown Architecture (PBA) is a committed specifying partner and they initially designed Speedway with Arch-Fab’s Atlas Canopies in mind. PBA’s specification resulted in an “invitation to bid” from RCC, and Arch-Fab provided a turnkey proposal and ultimately was awarded the opportunity to perform the scope of work.

While the Atlas Canopy, Arch-Fab’s flagship canopy, was specified, the building design included columns at corner entries and special overhead doors that made “typical” canopy installation impossible.

The partnership of PBA, RCC and Arch-Fab resulted in a level of collaboration that allowed design, engineering, fabrication, and onsite personnel to develop the unique requirements presented at Speedway. The canopies required custom notching, artisan sheet metal fabrication, and well-planned coordination on the jobsite between RCC, Arch-Fab, and other subcontractors. RCC’s onsite project manager, assistant project manager, and superintendent cooperated with Arch-Fab and demonstrated leadership and exemplified what it means to be committed trade partners.

The Speedway canopies are beautiful, functional and were completed on time for Ridgemont Commercial Construction and in the time since completion, we have partnered together on many additional projects. Architectural Fabrication is grateful for trade partners like Ridgemont Commercial Construction and Powers Brown Architecture and our team is committed to serving and growing with them in the years to come.

DFW Commerce – Irving

DFW Commerce, Irving | Extruded Aluminum Sunshades

DFW Commerce – Irving

March

The Project

The GC on the DFW Commerce project, FA Peinado Construction (Peinado), was looking for a provider to fabricate and install aluminum canopies and sunshades. Peinado specializes in industrial, manufacturing, distribution centers, medical, & data-centers; this experience allows them to provide realistic estimates plus knowledgeable design. They are responsible for the construction of approximately 40 million square feet of “tilt wall” facilities in Texas.

Architectural Fabrication designed, fabricated, and installed our Extruded Aluminum Sunshades and Atlas Aluminum Canopies with a 6” fascia. With the distance between columns spanning 14 feet, we were not able to span the distance with 6” airfoil and there was no “structure” to attach the sunshade outriggers to. We provided our own “structure” in the form of a 12” x 12” alum tube that was installed between columns, giving an attachment point for additional outriggers.

DFW Commerce was designed by Powers Brown Architecture (PB) firm. Led by founding principle Jeffrey Brown, the firm has built a reputation for innovative designs balancing function, aesthetics and construction technology. PB is closely involved in the relationship between architecture & construction; striving to invent methods to apply award-winning design with commonplace construction methods.

The Project

Customer needed some exterior sun control on the first and second floors plus covering a few entrance doors. They also were looking to add some custom accent bands over select windows which needed to match the new sun control devices. They wanted industrial design with straight lines and oversized fascia.

We provided one of our typical sunshade designs including extruded aluminum components and mitered corners. The 19” fascia, however, was a total custom fabrication using anodized aluminum sheet which was formed and attached to the sunshade structures. We also integrated a few Helios canopies inside the sunshade structures as well as one stand alone unit to protect the entrance locations. The custom box style accent bands were fabricated using aluminum tube framing and the same anodized sheet material was used for the 12” fascia.

The GC on this project was Raymond Construction. We are excited about completing our first project with them and are looking forward completing more.

Water’s Ridge

Water's Ridge Atlas Canopy

Water’s Ridge

July

The Project

Customer had a new tilt wall building that originally had steel entrance canopies in the drawings. We see this quite often in the industrial market and a steel design seems to be the first choice for these types of projects. These canopies were larger than an average size canopy and would cause a significant strain on the walls.

We provided a quote that included an alternate product made with aluminum components. Our Atlas canopy model is our most popular design when providing an alternative to steel canopies. With its ability to adapt to any wall condition while in the field and multiple fascia types & sizes, the Atlas is the perfect choice when you need to keep that industrial look. It’s lightweight framing and internal drainage system keeps the stress off the walls and doesn’t require any extra embeds to attach to. On this project we even provided an open bottom design to really establish the structural steel look.

The GC on this project was McFadden & Miller and we are excited about completing our first project with them and are looking forward completing more.

McFadden & Miller was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1946 by John McFadden and Ed Miller. The company began shortly after WW2 making it the oldest and most experienced GC in the region. In 1949, a rising star in the post-war Dallas real estate market teamed with Mr. McFadden and Mr. Miller to build his very first speculative warehouse. That project, with a young Trammell Crow, began a partnership that endured for decades. It also helped change the face of commercial construction in north Texas. Today, that heritage continues with the emergence of Crow Holdings headed up by Trammell’s son Harlan and two sons of the man who would carry McFadden & Miller into the future.

As a general contractor, the company also views its subcontractors and suppliers as valued partners, who will assert that payments are the quickest in the industry, a practice that has led to many long-term vendor relationships with commensurate pricing and performance accruing to the benefit of McFadden & Miller and it’s clients.

This project was designed by Alliance Architects, Inc. based out of Richardson, Texas. We have successfully completed multiple industrial projects of theirs and we are consistently bidding on these types of projects.

Alliance Architects, Inc. has people that are energetic, imaginative, and empowered to master their craft in the manner that befits each of their gifts and talents. With a focus on client service, everyone brings to light their part of creative design and constructible drawings. They listen, respond and transform their client’s project goals into a creatively designed and successfully constructed facility.
