PDL Floor Designs

November

The Project

PDL Floor Designs is known for creating spaces that blend functionality and style, offering smart flooring solutions and thoughtfully designed architectural features. This month, we had the opportunity to work on a project that reflects exactly that vision, delivering sunshades and canopies that enhance both the look and usability of the space.

We installed six sunshade units, each featuring 8″ shutter blades with a rectangular plate outrigger profile, stacked flat bars for added dimension, and a matching stacked fascia, all finished in standard powder coat colors for a clean, cohesive look. To complement the sunshades, we also installed three Atlas canopies. Two of the canopies feature a 24″ fascia, while one has an 18″ fascia, all crafted from smooth bent aluminum sheets. Deck pan infills and soffits in architectural metal colors provide a modern, polished finish, with frames and fascia in an Anodized Silver powder coat finish to unify the design.

West Village OKC Apartments

West Village at OKC Apartments | Project of the Month

West Village OKC Apartments

September

The Project

This month we feature our work at The Residence in OKC, a large-scale project that combined both precision and design. Our team installed nearly one hundred pre-fabricated Helios and Atlas canopy units across four buildings. Each canopy was built with durable extruded aluminum components and finished in a dark bronze powder coat, creating a sleek, modern look while providing reliable shade and weather protection.

In Building A, we installed twenty-four Helios canopy units across the first and fifth floors, supported by sixty-one turnbuckles and covering over 1,300 square feet. Building B added another layer of complexity with seventeen canopy units and a series of decorative braces, including extended projection canopies that added depth and character to the upper levels. For Building C, we combined standard and extended projection Helios units for a total of twenty canopies and forty-four braces, bringing in coverage of more than 1,100 square feet. The largest portion of the project was completed in Building D, where we installed thirty-four canopies in both Helios and Atlas styles. This part of the project required a mix of fascia sizes, turnbuckles, and braces, including several limited-access courtyard installations, resulting in nearly 2,500 square feet of coverage alone.

When looking at the project as a whole, the numbers are impressive: ninety-five canopy units, 6,653 square feet of total coverage, 157 turnbuckles, and 52 braces. But beyond the numbers, this project stands out because of the balance it achieved between uniformity and customization. Each building followed a consistent design language, yet every canopy was tailored to its placement and projection requirements. The finished result is a polished, durable, and cohesive canopy system that enhances both the function and the architecture of The Residence in OKC.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the strong collaboration between Arrive Architecture Group and Willowbrook Construction Services. Their expertise, teamwork, and attention to detail were essential in bringing the vision of The Residence in OKC to life.

The Edition at Research Park

The Edition at Research Park

July

The Project

We recently completed an exciting project at The Edition at Research Park in Austin, Texas, where we provided a range of custom canopy and shade solutions that enhance both the building’s architecture and the outdoor experience. From sleek overhead protection to inviting courtyard features, every detail was designed to balance form, function, and durability.

At the center of the installation is a 66-linear-foot Atlas Canopy with a 7-foot projection. Designed with a smooth bent aluminum fascia, deck pan infill, and flush seam soffit, it adds a clean, modern edge to the main building’s facade. The finish was selected to match architectural metal standards, creating a cohesive, professional look.

To further support the building’s entryways and windows, we installed ten Helios Canopies across 83 linear feet. These feature a mix of C-channel and 4″x6″ gutter fascia, scuppers for drainage, and deck pan infill — all finished in a durable powder coat. Together, these canopies provide both aesthetic appeal and essential weather protection.

The project extended into the outdoor courtyards with several custom shade structures. In both the south and west courtyards, we installed over 600 square feet of freestanding structures. Built with 6″ x 12″ tube posts and beams, 4″ square tube intermediate supports, and topped with perforated panel roofs, these spaces are designed to filter light while allowing airflow — creating comfortable areas for people to gather or pass through.

One of the most visually distinct features is a series of five custom cabanas, totaling 845 square feet. Constructed with square tube posts and perimeter framing, each cabana incorporates a variety of angled tube slats in different widths and orientations. The slats are finished in a wood grain powder coat, giving them a warm, natural feel that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding architecture. This same finish was also used on a 484-square-foot shade structure installed over the outdoor kitchen.

We also installed a perforated panel privacy wall for added comfort and separation between outdoor areas. All structural elements, from the canopy frames to the shade structures and slats, were fabricated with precision and finished in powder-coated colors selected to match the project’s architectural palette.

From the Atlas and Helios systems on the main building to the thoughtful additions throughout the landscape, this project is a true example of how shade structures can enhance the built environment in both subtle and striking ways.

This project was successfully completed in collaboration with STG Design and OHT Partners.

The Josephine Luxury Apartments | Project of the Month

The Josephine

April

The Project

Nestled in San Antonio’s vibrant Tobin Hill neighborhood, The Josephine luxury apartments offer residents a luxury living experience with rooftop views, modern amenities, and enhanced outdoor architecture. This recently completed project includes custom-built shading solutions throughout the property, designed to enhance both function and form.

The installation includes two aluminum Trellis systems, one at 368 square feet supported by 6″ square tube posts and another at 802 square feet in a post-free, cantilevered design. Both were framed with 6″ members and 3″x6″ tube infills, with a rich Dark Bronze Kynar finish. Additionally, we manufactured and installed 30 Helios Canopy units, each with a 4-foot projection, smooth fascia, overhead supports, 3″x8″ gutter systems, integrated scuppers, and durable deck pan infills. Three of these units were upgraded with a soffit finish in Super Mediterranean, adding a unique visual texture to the design.

The Josephine is a great example of how thoughtful architectural elements can elevate multi-family developments. Whether you’re creating outdoor spaces for shade, style, or both, we’re here to help bring that vision to life.

The Project

We are proud to showcase our work at the newly renovated Greek Life Community Center at the entrance of Greek Row and the UTA campus. This project was designed to address campus space challenges by bringing together organizations and offering shared spaces for gatherings, training, and events.

In this project, a range of high quality products were incorporated that not only elevates and complements the building’s design but also enhance its functionality. At the heart of it are the Atlas canopies, installed on the North and South Elevations. With 4′ and 5′ projections, a 6″ fascia trim, and a sleek Kynar standard finishes these canopies deliver both protection and style.

On to the West and South Elevations, our walkway covers stretch over 1,200 sq ft, supported by robust 4″ square tube posts and 6″x8″ gutter beams, providing ample shelter while tying the design together. To top it off, the low and high wall-mounted trellises, crafted with 6″ square tube posts and 4″x8″ tube beams, add a dynamic touch of elegance, providing shaded spaces that enhance the building’s flow.

Lakeview Pointe

March

The Project

The GC on this project was looking for a provider to fabricate and install over 30 aluminum canopies on a large multi-family project in Garland, Texas. Spring Valley Construction Company is a general contractor that is focused on creating an enjoyable experience. With over 4 decades of experience, they are proud to serve North Texas and have made a name for themselves in several market segments.

Architectural Fabrication designed, fabricated, and installed 34 Titan canopies and one Helios canopy with a dark bronze finish to create a cohesive look for the building. In addition to the canopies, 68 overhead supports were fabricated as well, both for structural integrity and a stunning look.

We were able to provide this as a turnkey solution and installation was in Garland, right in our backyard. While we’re happy to work all across the country, it is always a joy to do fantastic work in our home state and local market.

This project was created for OM Housing. OM Housing is an award-winning, full service real estate firm that develops, owns, and operates high-quality, eco-friendly multi-family communities across Texas.
