The Edition at Research Park

July

The Project

We recently completed an exciting project at The Edition at Research Park in Austin, Texas, where we provided a range of custom canopy and shade solutions that enhance both the building’s architecture and the outdoor experience. From sleek overhead protection to inviting courtyard features, every detail was designed to balance form, function, and durability.

At the center of the installation is a 66-linear-foot Atlas Canopy with a 7-foot projection. Designed with a smooth bent aluminum fascia, deck pan infill, and flush seam soffit, it adds a clean, modern edge to the main building’s facade. The finish was selected to match architectural metal standards, creating a cohesive, professional look.

To further support the building’s entryways and windows, we installed ten Helios Canopies across 83 linear feet. These feature a mix of C-channel and 4″x6″ gutter fascia, scuppers for drainage, and deck pan infill — all finished in a durable powder coat. Together, these canopies provide both aesthetic appeal and essential weather protection.

The project extended into the outdoor courtyards with several custom shade structures. In both the south and west courtyards, we installed over 600 square feet of freestanding structures. Built with 6″ x 12″ tube posts and beams, 4″ square tube intermediate supports, and topped with perforated panel roofs, these spaces are designed to filter light while allowing airflow — creating comfortable areas for people to gather or pass through.

One of the most visually distinct features is a series of five custom cabanas, totaling 845 square feet. Constructed with square tube posts and perimeter framing, each cabana incorporates a variety of angled tube slats in different widths and orientations. The slats are finished in a wood grain powder coat, giving them a warm, natural feel that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding architecture. This same finish was also used on a 484-square-foot shade structure installed over the outdoor kitchen.

We also installed a perforated panel privacy wall for added comfort and separation between outdoor areas. All structural elements, from the canopy frames to the shade structures and slats, were fabricated with precision and finished in powder-coated colors selected to match the project’s architectural palette.

From the Atlas and Helios systems on the main building to the thoughtful additions throughout the landscape, this project is a true example of how shade structures can enhance the built environment in both subtle and striking ways.

This project was successfully completed in collaboration with STG Design and OHT Partners.

The Watermere at Flower Mound

The Watermere at Flower Mound

September

The Project

Integrated Real Estate Group, a distinguished property development and management company headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, sought to enhance The Watermere at Flower Mound, a retirement residence. They envisioned a project that combined functionality and aesthetics, ensuring a welcoming environment for the residents.

Integrated Real Estate Group required a range of architectural elements to achieve this vision, including Titan Canopies, Standing Seam Awnings, decorative brackets, and multiple Trellises (including cantilevered). The challenge lay in integrating these elements seamlessly into the design while meeting Integrated Real Estate Group’s high standards of quality and durability.

Arch-Fab took on the challenge by meticulously designing, fabricating, and installing the diverse range of products specified by Integrated Real Estate Group. Our team ensured each element met the specific requirements of the project and aligned with the overall architectural vision. The Titan Canopies provided both architectural appeal and weather protection, crafted from robust 6063 Aluminum Alloy.

The Standing Seam Awnings were carefully designed to contribute to the aesthetic plus offer functional shade. The three cantilevered Trellises offer shady spots to rest on the Wateremere’s walking trail, and the two additional Trellises on the property contribute to year-round enjoyment of the outdoor environment for residents. Bringing the entire building design together, the decorative brackets create a cohesive aesthetic across the campus.

Collaborating closely with Arrive Architecture Group, Arch-Fab successfully translated the vision of Integrated Real Estate Group into reality. Arrive Architecture Group, a firm committed to collaborative design and creating spaces that resonate with their purpose and surroundings, played a crucial role in shaping the architectural aspects of this project.

Their dedication to blending style with function ensured the final design not only met the client’s requirements but also added to the overall appeal and comfort of the retirement residence. The strong partnership was instrumental in delivering a project that exceeded expectations in both form and function.

LvL 29 Windrose Dog Park

LvL 29 Windrose Dog Park Walkway Cover

LvL 29 Windrose Dog Park

August

The Project

Nestled in the growing heart of Frisco’s Legacy West, LvL 29 and Windrose Apartment complexes offer its renters luxury in all spaces beginning with the individual residential apartments all the way to, well, the dog park. The renters and their furry friends can stand under protection from the elements in two fabulously designed and custom fabricated, branded walkway covers connecting the two complexes. Leading landscape architect Kimley-Horn, led the design of this stunningly beautiful amenity and NE Construction managed this project.

Arch-Fab was enrolled in this project by the leadership of long-time trade partner, NE Construction. Arch-Fab embraced the challenge to design, manufacture, and install these branded walkway covers. The shaded covers have differing elevations per post, creating a varying visual aesthetic. Coordination and detailed documentation were required to make sure the posts aligned according to the plan.

To make sure the posts were properly placed to create the arching effects throughout the deckpan, the packing team meticulously labeled each post with the corresponding submittal schedule. The attention to detail enabled the installation crew to act with confidence when identifying the correct posts for each spot along the walkway. The custom covers were created by building a radiused tube frame for support and laser cut panels to create the unique logo patterns within each structure.

This was a truly memorable project for Arch-Fab. The LvL 29 Windrose dog park continues to be an inspiration to the Arch-Fab team, representing our best and most collaborative work. It was a pleasure to create both art and true functionality with the walkway cover creating an opportunity for cohesive branding. Relationships with Kimley-Horn and NE Constriction have only continued to strengthen with each project since the park’s completion.

The Residences at First National

March

The Project

Designed and developed to honor the First National Center historical landmark, The First – Residences at First National and The National, an Autograph Collection Hotel are located in downtown Oklahoma City. Featuring all the amenities of modern luxury, NE Construction and ADG Architects came together to honor the building’s history while updating the space to create an oasis of luxury and elegance.

In January 2019, long-time partner NE Construction approached Architectural Fabrication to assist in the design and development of roof-top amenities at the pool, dog park, and a decorative structure in the iconic Great Hall. NE and ADG relied upon Arch-Fab’s expertise to identify end-to-end custom solutions to meet the unique design, engineering, manufacturing, and onsite needs of this historic redevelopment.

Due to the historical significance and scope of this project, it was imperative that all new features adhered to the aesthetic mandates while providing durability and ease of maintenance. The product mandate was to design, engineer, and manufacture trellises, covered outdoor structures, cabanas, perforated screens, a rooftop swing, and an artistic interior portal structure.

The custom finishes required to meet the aesthetic quality of the interior created a unique challenge. The Great Hall called for large 8″ x 12″ aluminum tubes finished with an antique brass powder coat and equipped with recessed LED lighting.

Outdoor, rooftop installation took place during the winter months and required strategic planning, staging, and coordinated mobilizations.

Arch-Fab created models of each scope to affirm intent, finish, aesthetic, and capabilities. Arch-Fab’s Project Management Team established expectations, developed comprehensive project schedules, and kept all parties in sync, on track, and on time. Detailed submittals were created for each item of scope and approved by the architectural and onsite construction team.

Architectural Fabrication is honored to have been a partner with NE Construction and ADG Architects on this historic project. NE Construction, a long-time partner, has proven its commitment to Arch-Fab and reinforced its position of prominence as an industry-leading general contractor.

Presidium Revelstoke

Presidium Revelstoke | Wall-mounted Sunshades with Wood Grain Powder Coated Infill

Presidium Revelstoke

December

The Project

Presidium Revelstoke boasts “Luxury for a Lifetime” and every last architectural detail in this 408-unit luxury North Fort Worth apartment community echoes notes of luxury brought to life by O’Brien Architects and constructed by premier multifamily builder, Provident General Contractors.

The three-story, 466,515 square-foot development was designed with a contemporary architectural approach providing members with the latest technology for modern living. Outdoor amenities are reminiscent of a lavish vacation, including a resort-style pool with cabanas, gas grills, a second-floor outdoor deck overlooking the pool area, a dog park with a wash station, onsite car wash, electric car charging station, and a community playground.

Long-term partner, Provident General Contractors (PGC), approached Arch-Fab with the opportunity to participate in the design, pricing, and turnkey installation of this multi-scope luxury multi-family project.

O’Brien Architects had very specific design preferences (i.e. wood grain, durable, interior/exterior) that spanned across a variety of finish product types (canopies, trellises, battens, cabanas, etc.). Our general contractor partner, PGC, wanted a single, “turnkey solution” to perform as much of the scope of work as possible. The challenge was to satisfy the design intent, deliver high-end finishes, produce and perform efficiently, and proficiently collaborate with many stakeholders.

After meeting with the owner, architect, and general contractor to map out a general plan and budget, we developed detailed designs and were awarded an initial scope of work that included interior and exterior battens and shade trellis structures. As a trusted partner to O’Brien and PGC, Arch-Fab was presented numerous additional opportunities to solve challenges and bring value. Revelstoke was a complete success for all parties involved and eventually grew to one of Arch-Fab’s largest multi-family projects with eight unique product packages designed produced and installed, becoming the template for Presidium projects as well as others in Arch-Fab’s rapidly growing multi-family segment.

Presidium has selected Arch-Fab for its future developments and O’Brien has included Arch-Fab as their “Basis of Design” going forward. Revelstoke has solidified the partnership between PGC and Arch-Fab and reviews from PGC’s precon and onsite teams have been excellent.
