Alvarado Junior High

August

The Project

Alvarado Junior High, completed in 2016, was designed with sustainable longevity at its core. Huckabee Architects honored the historical style of the area by incorporating a brick façade that effectively insulates the school from the intense Texas sun. Recently enhancing this design, Arch-Fab introduced a sleek, modern element through the installation of aluminum canopies and sunshades along the Alvarado ISD building.

These striking additions are not only visually appealing but also contribute to long-term energy savings by reducing the heat load on the buildings, potentially lowering energy costs. They also provide essential sun protection for students in outdoor spaces, ensuring a comfortable environment for years to come.

Arch-Fab worked directly with Reeder Construction and Huckabee to bring this beautiful school to life.

UTA Greek Life Community Center

The Project

We are proud to showcase our work at the newly renovated Greek Life Community Center at the entrance of Greek Row and the UTA campus. This project was designed to address campus space challenges by bringing together organizations and offering shared spaces for gatherings, training, and events.

Architectural Fabrication worked with Mart Inc. General Contractors and Hahnfeld, Hoffer & Stanford to ensure the center provides a comfortable and conducive environment for the students.

In this project, a range of high quality products were incorporated that not only elevates and complements the building’s design but also enhance its functionality. At the heart of it are the Atlas canopies, installed on the North and South Elevations. With 4′ and 5′ projections, a 6″ fascia trim, and a sleek Kynar standard finishes these canopies deliver both protection and style.

On to the West and South Elevations, our walkway covers stretch over 1,200 sq ft, supported by robust 4″ square tube posts and 6″x8″ gutter beams, providing ample shelter while tying the design together. To top it off, the low and high wall-mounted trellises, crafted with 6″ square tube posts and 4″x8″ tube beams, add a dynamic touch of elegance, providing shaded spaces that enhance the building’s flow.

Aside from the physical products we’ve provided for this project, we take the most pride in contributing to a community initiative designed to foster a vibrant and engaging environment especially for the students.

South Hills High School

Project of the Month | South Hills High School | Custom "DNA" Trellis

South Hills High School

JAnuary

The Project

Steele & Freeman sought a distinctive architectural element for the South Hills High School project in Fort Worth. With their focus on delivering excellence and personalized service, they needed a unique shade solution that would not only provide functional benefits but also align with the innovative vision of the school.

Arch-Fab, known for crafting custom shade solutions, was enlisted as a partner in this endeavor. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate a striking architectural feature inspired by DNA strands into the school’s environment.

Arch-Fab rose to the challenge by designing, fabricating, and installing a one-of-a-kind custom trellis for South Hills High School. The design, inspired by the structure of DNA, featured 4″ square tube posts with beams projecting out, connected by 2″ x 6″ tubes. The intricate “DNA” pattern was achieved with 1″ pipes ascending and descending between the beams.

The entire structure was finished with Kynar Regal White for a clean aesthetic, complemented by Polycarbonate panels on top, ensuring durability and functionality. Arch-Fab’s comprehensive approach, from design to installation, resulted in a visually striking and functionally sound architectural feature.

Kline Hardin, with over 30 years of award-winning design experience, shared our commitment to delivering top-notch solutions. This partnership underscored the seamless coordination between all those involved in the project. The South Hills High School project not only showcased Arch-Fab’s expertise in custom shade solutions but also highlighted our ability to harmonize with industry leaders in the education vertical within our home market.

The collaboration resulted in a distinctive addition to the school’s landscape, embodying the spirit of innovation and excellence.

The Clariden School

The Clariden School | Project of the Month

The Clariden School

December

The Project

The Clariden School in Southlake, TX is a premiere private STEM School focusing on educating students from preschool to 12th grade. Arch-Fab has been a long-time partner with Steele & Freeman and worked directly with WRA Architects on this project to supply and manufacture new awnings for a refresh.

The Clariden School remodel came about after an Arch-Fab Lunch and Learn presentation. The WRA architect and Arch-Fab AEC Representative collaborated on the awnings together and then bid the work to Steele & Freeman.

As an existing building, the Clariden School had existing steel awnings that were showing signs of rust. They were removed to make room for new aluminum awnings with standing seam material. Utilizing the new aluminum awnings ensured that no rust would form on the structures. The frames were mechanically fastened rather than welded as they had been in the steel design. It was also important to incorporate the original colors of the previous awnings and to maintain a fresh look.

In order to make sure these awnings matched the previous ones, the framing of the awnings received a primer treatment of powder coat. Afterward, their painter applied a paint grip for an adhesive surface for the paint. The standing seam was a perfect match to the originals and — adding to durability against the elements — came as a prefinished baked enamel.

With lots of communication to convey how the final look would be achieved in the field, the standing seam awnings came together and refreshed the exterior of The Clariden School.

Arch-Fab has had the pleasure of completing several projects with Steele & Freeman with the intent to do more in the future. WRA Architects is a firm focused on projects in the educational field and Arch-Fab plans to create a stronger partnership with them in the new year.
